"KYOKAI" is the first collaboration between duenn and Satomimagae. After seeing Satomi's live performance, duenn decided to make music with her.
Mixing duenn's experimental ambient sound scape and Satomi's voice, they made "heteromorphic" pop sounds, which are more than "Haiku" but less than "Music".
The title "KYOKAI" meaning "Border" in Japan, comes from a sign on the street on the way to duenn's work. Many vague boundaries that exist in this world inspired this album.

日本のエクスペリメンタルフォークアーティスト、Satomimagaeが福岡のアンビエント・プロデューサー、duennとのコラボレーションアルバム『境界 KYOKAI』を今週水曜日（6/21)に発表しました。

Satomimagae(サトミマガエ）は、今年２月にデビューアルバム発売から十周年を記念する「awa」（Expanded）をRVNGより発表しています。一方のduenn（ダエン）は、ベルギーの実験音楽レーベル”Entr'acte”、大阪の”スローダウン・レコーズ”を始めとする複数の国内外のレーベルより作品を発表している。2017年、Merzbow、Nyantoraと共にエクスペリメンタル・ユニット「3RENSA 」を結成した。Nyantoraとアンビエントのイベント「Haradcore Ambience」を共催している。

今回、イタリアのレーベル、Rohs! Recordsから発売されたニューアルバム『境界　Kyokai』は、両者のコラボレーターの音楽的な個性が上手く合致している。アンビエントアーティスト、duennのアンビエント/エレクトロニックのトラックに、サトミマガエのアンニュイかつアブストラクトなボーカルが特徴の作品となっています。ロンドンの現代的なエレクトロニックや、エクスペリメンタル・ポップにも近い音楽性です。

“KYOKAI”は、duennとSatomimagaeによる初めてのコラボレーション作品である。2021年、duennとナカコー（Koji Nakamura：　青森出身の伝説的なインディーロックバンド、Supercar[スーパーカー]のフロントマン。現在はエレクトロニック・プロデューサーとして活躍している）が主催するイベント、”HARDCORE AMBIENCE”にSatomimagaeが出演したことをきっかけに始まったこのプロジェクトは、duennの実験的なアンビエントトラックにSatomimagaeがボーカルで参加し、シンプルな歌を加えていくことで、「異形のポップ・ミュージック」を目指す試みである。

コンセプトは「短歌（俳句）以上、音楽未満」で、音楽になる寸前の短い断片を集めたかのようなアルバムになっている。タイトルである「境界」はduennの通勤途中に立っていた標識に由来しており、身の回りに存在するいくつもの曖昧な境界線がこのアルバム全体のインスピレーションとなっている。
